Giving your home a clean bill of health
RADON GAS TESTING
Why Test For Radon?
Radon is a cancer-causing natural radioactive gas that you can’t see, smell or taste. Its presence in your home can pose a danger to your family's health. The EPA estimates that Radon causes more than 20,000 lung cancer deaths each year and is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.
What is Radon?
Radon is an invisable and odorless radioactive gas which occurs naturally from decaying uranium underneath the earth's surface.  Though you cannot see, smell, or taste radon, it is there and may be a problem in your home.  Radon gas rises through the soil and seeps through cracks, holes, and drain pipes in the foundation or basement of your home.  Radon gas can be found all over the United States and according to the EPA, 1 out of every 15 homes has high levels of Radon gas.  Radon gas contains radioactice particles which get trapped in your lungs every time you breathe.  As the radon gas particles break down, they release bursts of radiation that damage or destroy your lung tissue which causes lung cancer and long-term exposure may even cause death.
